A follow up trip to Karonga was made to see how the farmers that received the Mbundumali cassava variety from SSLLP were doing. The cassava crop has thrived very well and the farmers are very happy because soon they will reap from what they sowed. There are various expectations on what they will do with the crop when it is ready, some have made plans to sale the cassava so they can support their homes financially, others say it will contribute to food security in their homes while others say that more cutting of the variety will be readily available. Other farmers who did not receive the cuttings have already started benefiting from the farmers who received the cuttings because those that received them have shared/ passed on some cuttings. More farmers are expected to benefit from this project because the strength of the project lies in the pass on.
